Mandatory Credit: Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images Detroit defensive end Aidan Hutchinson suffered what is reported to be a season-ending leg injury in the third quarter of the Lions' 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.
Following his team's win, Lions coach Dan Campbell said Hutchinson, 24, has a tibia injury and was remaining in Dallas while the rest of the team flied back to Detroit. Fox Sports reported later Sunday that the injury was a fracture, and TSN reported that he underwent surgery shortly after leaving the game.
Hutchinson, one of the league's premier defensive players, was injured while sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during the Lions' first defensive drive of the half. Players from both teams huddled around Hutchinson as medical personnel tended to him and placed him on the cart.
After coming back from a series of commercial breaks, the Fox broadcast would not replay the injury.
Hutchinson, the second pick of the 2022 draft, had 6.5 sacks entering the contest. He recorded 11.5 sacks for Detroit last season and entered the day with 27.5 for his career.
